Overview
Fused magnesia (FM) is produced by arc-fusion of magnesite above 2800 °C, yielding large periclase crystals of exceptional purity, density, and thermal stability. It outperforms DBM in applications demanding maximum MgO purity, electrical resistivity, and resistance to corrosion by basic slags in premium steel refractories and electrical insulation systems.
