Overview

Chromite sand is a processed chromite mineral in angular sand form, used primarily in foundry moulding and core-making as a chemically stable, high-density facing sand that prevents metal penetration and veining defects in steel castings. In refractories, it is used in chrome-bearing brick formulations.
